Chapter 8 Implementation Working Group
Late last year, Dion Gaines and I teased our chapter members with the prospect of starting an ISSM working group. Well, the teasing is over, and we are proud to announce that on June 26th, the Charlottesville ISSM Working Group will have its first meeting. The meeting will be from 3:00 – 4:00pm at the offices of MRIGlobal. Meetings will be held every other month, skipping months in which the NCMS chapter meeting occurs.

The concept of this working group is to provide useful information to all ISSMs and ISSOs that will aid in our overall security duties and contribute to our individual growth as security professionals. It is important to note that this working group is not a help desk; rather, it is a forum in which networking, collaboration, learning, and sharing is encouraged among ISSMs and ISSOs. That said, each meeting will be structured to include a 15-minute IS training topic, a 15-minute Q&A session related to that topic, and a 30-minute roundtable discussion for general Q&A. While any industrial security professional is welcome to attend, meeting discussions will be geared towards NISPOM Chapter 8 and the ISFO Manual.

The first meeting will feature introductions of all ISSMs and ISSOs, collaboration on developing a topics list for future discussions, and general roundtable for Q&A or discussing issues.
For more information, please contact Trey Williams or Dion Gaines.
